From the Director

2023 heralds 25 years of the Catskill Mountain Foundation’s commitment to enrich the lives of people in our Mountaintop community and beyond. By bringing people together in cultural experiences and exchange through the visual arts & crafts, music, acting, dance and film, the Foundation has been part of a greater vision of the role of the Arts in society.

After 3 years in which the pandemic was the main force shaping our immediate future, it seems more important than ever to reshape our collective sense of change with resilience. Importantly, the arts are what document and focus creative energy to describe and communicate what it means to be living in a world of rapid cultural, political and climate change.

In retrospect, the stories, whether in the form of a beautifully embroidered fabric, the ceramic objects that have passed through heat or layered images found in cyanotype prints are what contribute to abundance and stability within communities.

Sugar Maples Center For Creative Arts has this year, expanded to year-round studio arts programming and residencies. Our exciting future could not be possible without you. You are its heartbeat and its fuel.

We look forward to your visit to our beautifully equipped campus set amongst the exquisite Catskill Mountains.
