About The Diary of Anne Frank Stage Play
The Maude Adams Theater Hub and the Hunter Synagogue present The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, the Pulitzer Prize-winning play based on Anne Frank’s diary entries during WWII. The performance will take place in the historical Hunter Synagogue, located at 7879 Main Street, Hunter, New York, on April 18 at 3:00 PM.
The Diary of Anne Frank is the stage adaptation of Anne Frank’s diary, which was published posthumously in 1947. Adapted by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett and published in 1955, it follows a young Jewish girl and her family during the Nazi occupation of Amsterdam. Anne and her family lived in hiding in an attic for fear of persecution due to their Jewish identities. Throughout this time, Anne, then only 13, kept a journal expressing hope, despair, identity, and love.
Direction and Production Team
This production is directed by Beth Troxell, co-founder of Round The Bend Theater Company. Troxell’s vision immerses the audience in this intense play while providing perspective and hope to the community. Partnering with producer Jake Shipley of the Maude Adams Theater Hub, this play features local and talented actors who frequently perform at MATH and RTB stages.
