It's the time of the year to CELEBRATE the SPIRIT of the HOLIDAYS! Join us for family fun at the Tannersvile WINTER WALK!
The Tannersville WINTER WALK KICK OFF commences Friday, December 8 with the Greene Room Players "Songbrids and Friends" performance at the Mountaintop Library.
On Saturday, December 9, the NUTCRACKER 2:00 pm performance at the Orpheum starts up the festivities of the day. The NUTCRACKER 7:30 evening performance is the finale of the evening. In between performances, stroll and visit Main Street. Indulge in some hot kettle popcorn and listen to the Musical Sounds of our HTC Strolling Carolers! Holiday Costumed Characters have little holiday trinkets and candy for the kiddies as well as a WINTER WALK booklet with a map and events. Many of our decorated storefronts will be open late and will welcome you with activities, entertainment, a treat, or a little holiday cheer. There's music in the air! Vocalist Christina Dellea sings your holiday favorites. Ed Nizalowski entertains with Baroque flute music and soprano sax. HIGH PEAK DRUM Performs, and then join them for their Drum Circle. Delight in the heavenly sounds of Rev. Karen and the Ecumenical Choir at the Methodist Church. Keep warm at Mama Boy's Bonfire. Sip a little wine and listen to the sounds of Jazz Bassist Doug Marcus at the Chatham Wine Bar.
The Wellness Center is sponsoring an art contest, with winners announced at the end of the WINTER WALK. "Meet and Greet" ballet dancers at the Orpheum. The Mountaintop Library is offering holiday arts and crafts for all ages the entire day. Join local author and illustrator Grace Brannigan for a coloring book get-together for adults and children. For all book lovers, there will be a HUGE BOOK SALE courtesy of the FRIENDS of the LIBRARY. Need a holiday greeting card? Create it yourself, and let your creativity shine. Meet ventriloquist "Melody the Elf" for storytelling with her puppets that talk. Savor the talent of pianist David Peskin of the Piano Museum in concert. Bring your instruments and join David in a Holiday Jam.
In the "season spirit of holiday giving," please do not forget those in need. As we celebrate, please remember those less fortunate. Kindly support the BAKE SALE for PUERTO RICO RELIEF in the Village Hall. The delicious BAKE SALE has some homemade sweets for you, and take some home too. For those that wish to give, TOYS FOR TOTS UNWRAPPED and the LOCAL TANNERSVILLE FOOD PANTRY will have drop off boxes in the Village Hall.
The Annual Tree Lighting beings at 5pm with the angelic voices of the Ecumenical Choir, the Platte Clove Community Carolers and the HTC Strolling Carolers. Join "Melody the Elf" after the Annual Tree Lighting, from 5:30pm-6:30pm, for some pretty incredible face painting and lots of merrymaking! "Crazy Christine Balloons" will be twisting holiday favorites--Rudolph, Elves, and Santa hats! Warning, asking for a Santa hat may require you to belt out a hearty HO HO HO!! Have you been naughty or nice? Take a photo with Santa and decorate homemade cookies with Mrs. Claus at the Village Hall. Don't forget your cameras! Have a few laughs and famiy amusement with Sean "The Prankster Magician." Watch his amazing performance. The Village Hall is proud to showcase HTC students' artistry!
Don't miss Spectacular FIREWORKS on Main Street at 6:45pm!! And there is still more!!! The Say What? Contemporary Art Gallery marks its fifth anniversary with the opening reception of The Wood Show from 6:40 to 8:30 pm. The Gallery is staying open late! So come on in and create a wooden ornament to hang on the gallery Christmas trees, or take them home for your tree. Meet the artists. Enjoy light refreshments!
