Join us for this exhilarating concert of works by American composers with special guest, Grammy-Award winning baritone, Kenneth Overton. From W.C. Handy's "St. Louis Blues" to selections from George Gershwin's "Porgy & Bess", you won't want to miss this fascinating program that includes Aaron Copland's "Old American Songs", Harry Burleigh's moving songs and spirituals, to Valerie Coleman's rousing "Umoja" to Margaret Bonds' spiritual arrangements, some great jazz improv by oboist Kathy Halvorson, and delightful Ragtime by American women composers from the turn of the last century!
Hailed by the New York Times for "Öits venturesome programming and stylishness of performance," the Sylvan Winds has appeared under the auspices of Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Centerís Mostly Mozart Festival and the Caramoor International Music Festival.
