The Catskill Mountain Foundation is very excited to resume our summer benefit party which will be on Saturday July 9th at the Orpheum Film & Performing Arts Center in Tannersville. After a two year hiatus, we are looking forward to gathering with the community and celebrating the arts on the Mountaintop. We hope you will be able to join us!

Your support has a powerful impact and will help make possible the many programs run by the Catskill Mountain Foundation throughout the year. We are resuming a fuller schedule of programs in 2022 and are eagerly planning our 25th anniversary season in 2023, which we expect to be our most exciting performing arts season ever.

Some highlights:

• We extended our reach globally through our virtual performances over the past two years, and we will continue to present an exciting mix of 20-30 live and virtual music, dance, and family performances annually.

• We continue our two-week dance residencies at the Orpheum working with the Works and Process program of the Guggenheim Museum and the dance companies they support, and look forward to expanding our dance residency programs in 2023.

• We are thrilled with the NY State selection of Tannersville for a $10M grant as part of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) and will be submitting, for inclusion in the DRI, completion of the lighting and sound equipment installation at the Orpheum.  In addition, we will request funding for site improvements that were originally designed by Hugh Hardy’s company H3 as well as construction of two dance studios and expansion of artist housing.

• We are also working to develop a dance partnership with the Joyce Theater in NYC. This partnership looks promising, but is dependent on investments we are hoping to make at the Orpheum. More to come on that.

• The Orpheum Dance Program, directed by Victoria Rinaldi, includes the year-round Community Dance Classes and two productions annually at the Orpheum, the Midsummer Night’s Dream performance in August and The Nutcracker performance in December. Local dancers who participated in the Community Dance Classes have gone on to join prestigious dance companies around the world.

• The nationally-recognized ceramics and studio arts workshops continue at our Sugar Maples Center for Creative Arts in Maplecrest, now led by director Kulvinder Kaur Dhew with Bruce Dehnert leading the ceramics program. The salt kiln was restored in 2021 and workshop participants will have an opportunity to help build a new wood-fired kiln in 2022.

• We continue the educational summer programs for children in our community including the National Dance Institute two-week residency in July, the arts enrichment classes at Art Explorers in August at Sugar Maples, and the four-week HTC Elementary School Summer Arts Intensive.

• We are resuming our summer classical music residencies. The Hunter International Music Festival, led by two alumni of Manhattan in the Mountains, and Pianists in the Mountains, a one-week residency led by Drs. Joanne Polk and Inesa Sinkevych will both launch this summer.

Thank you for your support!
