As the Catskills reawaken amidst the ongoing pandemic, Victoria Rinaldi, director of the Orpheum Dance Program, continues to evolve the dance program. Ms. Rinaldi is now online, teaching her students from the Community Dance Class, and coaching her private students in home or private studio spaces including the Catskill Mountain Foundationís Red Barn in Hunter. With schools closed and performances cancelled, We Will Dance Again is the wish of all dancers. To support these dancers and to bring an exciting performance to our audience from the Catskills and beyond, the Catskill Mountain Foundation has commissioned a 30 minute film to be released in September. Dance solos and duets will be performed and videotaped at the Orpheum Film and Performing Arts Center in Tannersville under strict social distancing requirements. Small, socially-distant community ballet student groups will dance with professional dancers outdoors, performing the final scene of A Midsummer Nightís Dream. Alumni of the Orpheum Dance Program, as well as professional dancers, will perform their own choreographed contemporary dances. Sam Meredith, who is a professional videographer among his many other professional talents, will record and edit all performances into one spectacular night of dance.
