The renowned faculty of the Academy of Fortepiano Performance present a rich and diverse program of music played on historical pianos from the Catskill Mountain Foundation Piano Performance Museum, Steven E. Greenstein collection. The sound world of Mozart, Beethoven and other are brought to life as music is performed on the instruments of their time.
Featuring faculty members Audrey Axinn, Maria Rose, Yi-heng Yang (fortepiano) and Cynthia Roberts (violin). Special guest fortepianists are First and Second Place Prizewinners of the Sfzp International Fortepiano Competition.
Audrey Axinn is a sensitive and vibrant performer who has played solo and collaborative recitals at many venues throughout North America and Europe. She is currently residence faculty at Tianjin Juilliard School, Tianjin, China.
Maria van Epenhuysen Rose, a native of the Netherlands, is a brilliant performer on historical pianos, covering a wide range of repertoire. She also holds a PhD in musicology from New York University and has published many articles on piano performance practice.
Yi-heng Yang is a ardent proponent of using historical instruments to bring the literature of the piano to life. She teaches at Juilliard and Mannes and has recently released recordings of the music of Brahms and Mendelssohn.
Cynthia Roberts is one of America’s leading baroque violinists and has appeared as soloist, leader and recitalist throughout North America, Europe and Asia.
