A folk-theater concert of New York State’s leading role in the American Women’s Suffrage Movement. Authentic songs used to persuade, rally and celebrate compiled by Peggy Lynn of Red Creek, NY include songs from the suffrage movement, which range from humorous to poignant and from strident marches, to hymns and popular parlor songs. Through dramatic narrative and the songs women sang they will tell the story of how American women won the right to vote in 1917 in New York, and 1920 in the nation. A cast of eight singers and musicians will present the concert, a production by Old Songs, Inc. Directed by Andy Spence the concert of two acts will present a compelling performance through music and stories.
