Welcome to 17th-century Italy, where vocal chamber music pyrotechnics explode in frothy rhetoric. This program explores the melodic inventiveness and passionate harmonic twists that flourished in the music of the virtuosissima Barbara Strozzi in Venice.  Barbara Strozzi was one among many famous women singers of her generation, but she was unique in her equal proficiency as a composer, that established her as one of the leading composers of vocal chamber music of the entire Baroque period. Join us for an evening featuring voices, plucked strings and violins in a feast of captivating songs, lively dance tunes and sensuous sonatas.
