Summer Arts Intensives

Dates: July 21, 2013 through August 11, 2013

Manhattan in the Mountains is a summer music festival dedicated to cultural enrichment and music education in the Catskill Mountain Region of New York.  A renowned artist-faculty from the Manhattan School of Music, including concert artists and musicologists, will be coaching talented young musician—honing their musical skills.  Through concerts, open master classes, lecture and other events, the public is invited to join in the process.  A central component of Manhattan in the Mountains is their partnership with the Piano Performance Museum.  The goal is to use the museum’s rich collection of historical instruments as a tool to achieve a broader understanding of how the development of instruments impacted the making of music through the ages.
