As the Catskill Mountain Foundation (CMF) continues its 20th anniversary celebrations, the Kaaterskill Fine Arts Gallery will host three concurrent exhibitions of solo artists from the region: It All began With Clay: ceramic sculpture by Dina Bursztyn, Enigma: drawings by Ryder Cooley and Where We Are: new paintings by Lisa Jacobson, starting June 9, 2018.
The six-week exhibit, which will comprise works from the three talented artists from the Catskill and Hudson Valley, fits in perfectly with Gallery Director Robert Tomlinson’s goal of engaging the Hunter community and offering a wide range of educationally oriented, thematic exhibitions as well as selected solo shows that will honor local artists and artisans. “The gallery’s goal is to create meaningful engagement through relevant content while bringing to life the distinct “voice” of different materials. I admire artists who persevere, trust their instincts and follow their imaginations to make work that is uniquely theirs,” notes Tomlinson.
Ryder Cooley is an inter-disciplinary artist, musician and performer based in Hudson, N.Y. She studied sculpture at RISD, has a combined media masters from SUNY Albany, and an MFA in integrated electronic art from RPI. Currently, she performs with Hazel, a disembodied (taxidermy) ram, and with her band Dust Bowl Faeries.
