Gay Smith

Gay Smith, aka Gertrude Graham Smith, is a studio potter and teaching artist single firing porcelain ware in a soda kiln near Penland, NC. She held artist-in-residencies at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, Montana and at Penland School in Penland, NC. Her teaching credits include workshops at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Penland School, the Harvard Ceramics Studio. Her work is represented internationally, is in collections: Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC, and Yingge Ceramics Museum in Taiwan.

Sugar Maples Center for the Arts is pleased to announce our attractive new housing for students - Sherwood House.  Conveniently located on campus beside the newly landscaped Batavia Kill Creek, the Sherwood House is an excellent choice for affordable, comfortable housing. A 14 room beautifully furnished facility with private bath and air conditioning, Sherwood House features a common kitchen, large living room with wide screen TV and wireless Internet.

Room rates are $80 per night (+ sales tax) for double or single occupancy. Space is limited so don't be disappointed, register for class and make reservations EARLY!
