SUGAR MAPLES

Chinese Brush Painting

Workshop

Note: This course has been offered in the past and is provided for informational purposes only.

Chinese Brush Painting

Chinese brush painting is intended to be a spontaneous art form, capturing the essence of an image or idea with very little attention to precise details. Come and learn the basics for this meditative art form.

Using the "Four Treasure" -- the brush, the ink tick, the ink stone and the paper -- you will learn the techniques to create the "Four Gentlemen": the bamboo, the plum, orchid, & chrysanthemum. Each of these introduces a new stroke or idea and reinforces techniques already learned. Continual demonstrations will be given along side individual attention. Students may purchase needed supplies from the instructor.

Please note that there is a $27 materials fee, payable to the instructor at the first class meeting.
