Delightful Decorating – Taking Your Pots One Step Further!

This three-day hands-on workshop will focus on different decorating techniques carried out at various stages of making. We will explore different methods of decorating, including working with slips, underglazes, wax resist and layering of glazes, as well as using stamps and carving on leather hard clay.

The first day will be spent making pots to be decorated using the varied methods that will work in mid and high firings. We will explore different ways of using brushes to create beautiful and satisfying designs on finished pots. Various slips, stains and underglazes will be available for experimentation, as well as wax-resist designs. Students are encouraged to bring five bisqued pots as well as a good array of brushes, throwing and carving tools to experiment with.
