Nature's Bounty
May 2006
Our farm is a place to discover the extraordinary beauty of nature. If you visit, and look carefully, you will find poetry in every detail.
The colors of the rainbow chard in the first photo of this portfolio are dramatic, but so too is the reflected light, the gloss, the delicate veins, the shapes and texture of the leaves.
In our second photo, we provide a overview picture of our Village of Hunter farm. The neat rows, the farm building, the attached greenhouse, and the unheated hoop houses have all been designed to create a beautiful setting for those work at and visiting our farm.
In our next page, we have two images of greens being harvested as we get ready to prepare our very special Mixed Farm Greens, available only in our own Farm Market.
In our next page, the beauty of nature’s bounty are again shown in the photos of peas, covered with the morning dew, the beautifully shaped head of lettuce, and in the color contrasts of the veined swiss chard leaves.
Each crop that is harvested on our farm is treated with care and respect. Each is a symbol of nature’s bounty. In the next page, Kenji’s photographs of the recently harvested carrots, and of the eggplant soon to be harvested shows their beauty.
The next two pages show some of the many seeds that we saved from last year’s harvest. The seed from each crop is so different, and each is beautiful. And each has within it the extraordinary power to rejuvenate, to create a new plant, which in turn will create many new seeds. Saving our seeds for next year’s planting is an important part of the Natural Agriculture philosophy.
The closing image is another beautiful photograph of flowers in the foreground, with our rows being rototilled in the background.
