Where can you have a fantastic evening feasting on amazing food selected to complement an array of great wines while you listen to live tango music, take part in a thrilling live auction and help a really good cause? The answer would be at Windham Fine Arts on December 28 at the Fourth Annual Winter Wine Tasting to benefit the Adaptive Sports Foundation at Windham Mountain. The gallery is thrilled to be able to host this popular event for the Adaptive for the fourth year. Master sommelier, Michael Albin of Hudson Wine Merchants on Warren Street has selected some superb wines to pour from some of the lesser known vineyards which will be accompanied by heavy hors d’oeuvres carefully selected to enhance the tasting experience by Chef Stéphane Desgaches of Bistro Brie & Bordeaux in Windham. Tango guitarist William Simcoe and flautist Elisabeth Williams have graciously donated their talents for the evening to help support the Adaptive and hopefully their generous spirit will be contagious. Concluding the evening is an auction which features original artwork from some of Windham Fine Arts’ most collectible artists and an extensive group of noteworthy wines donated from private cellars, all to benefit the Foundation.

Everyone involved in the evening has one thing in common, support of the Adaptive Sports Foundation, a non-profit organization located at Windham Mountain that teaches people with both cognitive and physical disabilities how to ski and snowboard in the winter and a variety of sports in the summer. Through fundraising events like this wine tasting the ASF is able to supplement over 90% of the program costs so cost will not be a barrier to a special needs person wanting to learn a specific sport. The Winter Wine Tasting has raised a steadily increasing amount of money every year and Victoria Alten of Windham Fine Arts hopes this year’s event will break past records and give everyone a fun, memorable highlight to their holidays.
