Disaster Relief-Fund Grant Application Guidelines

 
The Windham Chapter of the Catskill Mountain Foundation, Inc. sincerely regrets your loss and distress during this challenging time.  The purpose of the Hurricane Relief Fund is to provide disaster grants to individuals and businesses that have been affected by the catastrophic floods occurring in the Township of Windham August 28, 2011, as a result of Hurricane Irene.
 
To be eligible for a Grant, the applicant must:
 
§  Own property in the Township of Windham;
§  Show property damage occurred during or because of the Disaster as required by IRS guidelines;
§  Request grant by October 24, 2011;
§  Provide the Foundation through the Application with evidence of need.
 
Grants are available from the Hurricane Relief Fund to help towards the following purposes.  Please note, in most cases we will not cover the entire cost.  However, if you have extenuating circumstances, please call our office.
§  Cleanup and remediation of damaged homes and businesses;
§  Repair, reconstruction and rebuilding of affected properties/businesses;
§  Repair/replacement of damaged plumbing, heating and air conditioning equipment;
§  Purchase, rehabilitation and replacement of disaster damaged supplies, furniture, or machinery;
§  Prevention or mitigation of untoward conditions caused to affected  parties by the direct result of the disaster; and
§  Continuation of operations at affected businesses.
 
 
 
Windham Chapter Disaster-Relief Grants are not substitutes for insurance covered losses or to reimburse for losses covered by governmental agencies or other charities.  Main addresses on the Application should reflect the location of the damaged property(ies).  You will be notified in writing, where possible by email, of the status of your Grant Application.  If approved for funding, recipients should expect to receive funding by check within five (5) business days of notice of approval.
