It was formed in 2003 to support arts, education, recreation and other community priorities in Windham and the surrounding Mountain Top. The Chapter does this by providing grants to other organizations and by pursuing its own initiatives.

Recipients have included Windham-Ashland-Jewett School, the Windham Family Medical Center, the Windham and Hensonville Fire Departments, the Windham Chamber Music Festival, the Windham Library, Mountain Top Youth Soccer, the Sugar Maples Center for Arts & Education, the Windham Arts Alliance, the Patchworkers, Windham Mountain Outfitters Cycling, the Greene County Council on the Arts, the Mountain Top Historical Society, Windham's Civic Centre, and the Civil War Heritage Program. The Windham Chapter annually funds the Outstanding Student Scholarship for a member of Windham-Ashland-Jewett's graduating class.
