“Blaze of Glory” by Al Alexsa "Blaze of Glory" by Al Alexsa was the third place winner of the Fall category in the Guide's 2008 photo contest. In 2006 his photograph "Winter Thaw" appeared on the November cover of the magazine. Al only takes outdoor photographs and spends a lot of time in Minnewaska and Mohonk shooting. He considers himself an amateur and has been taking photos "since 2002, when I got my first decent digital camera." Though he considers himself an amateur his passion and knowledge of photography was apparent when he started discussing the possible techniques used by the photographers in last year's contest.
