May 2008 - My Walk with Rodger

But Rodger wasn't finished. We drove to a trailhead that quickly led to the topmost part of the falls and stunning long views of the Catskills receding into the distance. Up here are also found fascinating carvings etched into the boulders near the edge of the precipice. Often in fine calligraphy, initials and names and beautiful hieroglyphs can be found all over those rocks, some dating from the 19th century. The stream up here is fast though not too wide. Take care crossing it. I stepped on a wet, slippery moss-covered rock, and was almost on my way over the falls. Others haven't been so lucky.
