“The Back 40,” 22" x 30", giclée print and gouache, by Sara Conklin
In the November issue of the Guide the bio for Sara Conklin was inadvertently dropped. We apologize to Sara and include it in this issue.
I also apologize to Michelle Moran, whose Web address I did not include in her bio: www.michellemoran.net—Marci Todd
Sara Conklin received a B.S. in Art from Springfield College in Springfield, MA. She continued studying at the Banff Centre of the Arts in Alberta, Canada, Smith College in Northhampton, MA and at the Art Students League in New York City. The images shown here are from a series Sara began after recovering from a mentally and physically devastating horseback riding accident that resulted in a broken neck. After gaining some distance from the experience Sara was able to create a powerful body of work—many of her works on paper include actual X-rays of her spine and images of the hardware that held her neck together.
