The Sugar Maples Center for Creative Arts in Maplecrest, which will be closing for the winter on Columbus Day Weekend, announces the following events that are free and open to the public.

• All-day yard sale, 9am to 5pm, Saturday and Sunday, October 10 and 11, on the front porch of the Sherwood House on Rt. 50 in Maplecrest.
• Display of 60 new art objects from Africa at the Podell Library and Art Collection on Rt. 50. The library will be open from 9am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday, October 10 and 11.
• Saturday at 7pm, a Talent Show featuring 5 singers and three musicians from New York City, plus the FLEXITOON Puppeteers, regarded as the best in the country, at the "Church" Painting Studio at Sugar Maples.
• Sunday at 7pm. Albert Podell, a well-known world traveler who has visited 178 countries and co-authored Who Needs A Road, will show slides of his recent trip through 12 countries in southern Africa at the "Church" Painting Studio.
