About the ChefBernie Pittman comes from Tennessee and came to New York in 1990 to attend the Culinary Institute. He lived in New York City for a period and apprenticed at the China Grill. Upon graduation he worked for the Four Seasons Restaurant, which led to an opportunity to work in Switzerland. He worked in Zurich for 18 months before returning to New York City. Bernie has worked for some of Manhattan's top restaurants including Union Square Cafe, Patroon, Raouls and Capsouto Freres. He recently took on the venture of Chef at Elka Park where he discovered his passion for private lessons and where his primary focus is always on the best cuisine possible. Bernie is skilled in many cuisine styles ranging from French to German, American, Southern Creole, Alsatian, Mediterranean, Italian and Asian.
