From August 27th to September 4th, 2011, the Catskill Mountain Foundation, in partnership with Close Encounters with Music and the Windham Chamber Music Festival, is presenting an exciting festival of classical music and literature in the beautiful Catskill Mountain High Peaks.

Building upon a week-long residency of Close Encounters with Music in 2010, which offered master classes for a select group of international students of cello and lectures and classes opened to the public, the Music with Altitude! Festival in 2011 will expand to include performance, classes and lectures for cello, violin and piano.

For those who want to participate fully in the Festival offerings, there will be frequent activities scheduled throughout the week of August 2-September 4. For those who can visit for only a few days, there will be 3 concerts and special lectures and open master classes over Labor Day Weekend from Friday, September 2 to Sunday, September 4. Or, you can just come for one of the very special performances we have scheduled during the Festival.

You can order tickets for the full Festival, for the Labor Day Weekend concerts, or for individual concerts. Check the individual concert pages to order tickets.

The Catskills Mountains are beautiful in the summertime. There are many interesting places to visit while you are in the area. The Festival will take place at multiple venues on the Mountaintop in Hunter, Windham, and Tannersville. Enjoy the mountains, and if you have more time, take a trip to the Hudson Valley in Catskill or Hudson.

There are many hotels, inns, and B&Bs nearby that will welcome you. We can recommend several places to stay. These businesses have joined with us as Festival Partners. You can also check out the Greene County Tourism site for additional places to visit.
