Roots of the 1969 Woodstock Festival, The Backstory to “Woodstock”

On Aug. 9, 2008, a panel symposium and contemporary Sound-Out took place in Woodstock, New York. The wide-ranging discussion chronicled the events leading up to the world-famous Woodstock Music and Art Fair of 1969. The Blelocks' book explains definitively and for the first time why the festival was named Woodstock and why it continues to be so closely associated with the town, even though the concert actually occured in Bethel, New York. We agree with Wavy Gravy, founding member of the Hog Farm and the clown prince of the counterculture who, upon reading this book, exclaimed, "We must be in literary heaven, man!" Come explore this literary heaven with the Blelocks.
