Memoir Writing Workshopwith Dr. Glenna SloanDate: Saturday, October 30, 1:00 pm Since this is a two hour workshop, participants can expect to do some writing during it, if only an outline of what their memoir might look like. Examples of published memoirs, including the instructor's, will be examined and resource material, such as lists of good memoirs to study as models, will be provided. Questions about the content of the workshop may be sent to glenna.sloan@qc.cuny.edu. Dr. Glenna Sloan is a graduate of Teachers College, Columbia University. For many years she has taught graduate courses in Literacy Development, Literature and Writing in the Division of Education at Queens College of the City University of New York. Among her publications are The Child as Critic: Developing Literacy Through Literature (in its 35th year) and Give Them Poetry! A Guide to Sharing Poetry with Children (Teachers College Press, Columbia University), two novels for middle grade children and a memoir, Tales Out of School: Reflections on Teaching and Learning (Heinemann).
