Star Gazing Party

Join our star gazing party as part of our celebration of the four hundredth anniversary of the invention of the telesope. Take a visual journey into the night sky with astronomer Bob Berman behind the Catskill Mountain Foundation's Red Barn. Away from light pollution, our mountain altitude combined with relatively clear skies makes Hunter Village a wonderful place to view the stars. Dr. Berman will talk briefly about the life and work of Galileo Galilei. Join us in paying homage to the Tuscan artist who revealed mountains in the Moon, the satellites around Jupiter, and the multitudinous stars of the Milky Way, so changing our way of regarding the universe forever.

Bob Berman is the most widely read astronomer in the world. His "Strange Universe" page appears monthly in Astronomy magazine, the largest circulation periodical on the subject. Berman is also astronomy editor of the Old Farmers Almanac. He has authored more than a thousand published articles, and was Discover Magazine's monthly science columnist from 1989 until its sale in 2006. Bob Berman is author of "Secrets of the Night Sky" which was a Main Selection of the Astronomy Book Club and published in Europe by Piper. His other books include "Cosmic Adventure," "Strange Universe (translated into four languages), and the new "Shooting for the Moon." Listeners in seven states hear his Skywindow program on Northeast Public Radio stations, during NPR's Weekend summer astronomy program at Yellowstone Park for the National Park Service and Yellowstone Institute.
