Quadricentennial Event

Richard Heppner, author of "Remembering Woodstock," Though the famous Woodstock Festival was never actually held in Woodstock, the creative spirit it was known for was conceived, and lives on in this Colony of the Arts. Covering everything from pioneering life, to the radical shift that came with the music and attitude of the 1960's, Remembering Woodstock brings together some of the best stories from the publications of the Historical Society of Woodstock, and reveals the unique history of one of America's most famous small towns.

Richard Heppner is the Town Historian for Woodstock and sits on the historical society's board. He holds a Masters Degree in Media Studies from the New School and currently serves as Associate Vice President of Liberal Arts at Orange County Community College. He has written numerous articles for the Woodstock Times, the Ulster County Historical Society, and the Journal of Social and Evolutionary Systems.
