The Page as Canvas: or, How to Construct a Cubist Poem. Many readers familiar with the poetry of William Carlos Williams are unaware that he drew most of the inspiration for his unique writing style from the new movements in the visual arts during the 1920s. This workshop, led by bookstore manager Carolyn Bennett, will offer a glimpse into Williams' poetry and the Cubist art that inspired him. As always, the workshop will conclude with a brief writing exercise on how to construct our own cubist poem.
