Everyone knows that things like giants and dragons are only mythical creatures that never really existed. Right? Wrong. Come hear what the writings of the Old Testament have to say about "Palestine: Land of Giants and Dragons," a free presentation by Jim Planck. The race of giants spoken of in the Biblical texts gets more than a simple passing mention in Biblical histories, and their presence in the land — right down to Goliath, one of the last of their kind - is everywhere noted throughout the early cities of the pre-Israelite Holy Land. So who were they and what happened to them? Meanwhile, what of the dragons that the texts say inhabited the desert wastes? What were they and what became of them? And are there other "fairy tale" creatures that inhabited the Middle East that also perhaps have more substance than legend? Join Planck for an interesting and intriguing talk on some aspects of ancient natural history that aren't often looked at.
