Art Talk with Kris MossDate: Saturday, December 4, 1-2 pm
Continuing the tradition of informal gatherings to talk with artists of all kinds, Kaaterskill Fine Arts Gallery is pleased to introduce fiber artist Kris Gregson Moss of Queensbury, NY. Kris will discuss her work on Saturday, December 4, from 1-2 pm, as part of the gallery's holiday exhibition, Home for the Holidays: A Fiber Revolution. Kris Moss looks at color, movement, shape, form and negative space differently from most art quilters. She examines the tiniest parts of nature from all directions: the inside out and the outside in of a flower, for example. Sometimes her eye and sewing skills translate the vision into a three dimensional work of art, or a curved abstraction of the object, and sometimes the work is more realistic. Moss describes her art this way: "I am a fabric artist, as in fabric is my medium and I have been sewing for nearly 50 years. I revel in all the fabrics that are commercially available today, and I feel it's my duty to make them work together. Inspiration is everywhere: nature's changing vistas and flowing currents, imaginary forms that need building, and statements that need shouting." Image: "Judy's Gift," by Kris Moss
