Art TalkAntiques Road ShowDate: March 7, 12:30pm to 4pm
Our panel consists of local and regional professionals, including Beth Barker, Odette Loscalso, Tom O'Toole and Cindy Smith. Beth Harrington Barker has been an art advisor for over 25 years in fine art, specializing in paintings from the 19th - 20th centuries. She has built collections for numerous public and private collectors and has worked with museums, galleries and auction houses. Her particular field of interest is in American art, particularly the Hudson River School through American Impressionism. Odette Loscalso grew up as a child learning about antiques from her mother. She later worked for decades in New York City and in Hunter, developing her special expertise in glassware and Victorian jewelry. Mr. O'Toole has been in the antiques business most of his life as well and currently owns "Kings of Old", in Windham. His particular field of interest is Americana furniture. Cindy Smith, 10-year owner of "Old Treasured Belongings" in Hunter, has a lifetime of experience collecting and selling the antiques she loves, especially in the field of American art pottery, costume jewelry, china and glass. So bring your paintings, jewelry, textiles, glassware and anything old to Hunter Village Square on Saturday, March 7th and learn all about it. A bit of advice for owners of large pieces: rather than drag that large, fragile antique down to Hunter, take lots of photographs of it from all angles, paying particular attention to joints, embellishments, insides of drawers and signatures or identifying marks of any kind. Bring the photos and perhaps a small piece of the larger item for our experts to identify. There is a nominal fee of $5 for one item, $8 for two and $10 for three. Pre-registration is not necessary. See you there!
