Dan MackReaders & Writers Series 2008 & Gallery DiscussionDate: Saturday, September 13, Gallery Discussion 3PM / Booksigning 4PM
3PM Dan Mack will host a gallery talk/discussion entitled "How Objects Speak: a lightly Jungian approach to the processes of making art", Dan Mack is an artist, author and rustic furniture designer and builder. He is also the founder and guiding force behind the Woodlanders' Gathering. Dan's discussion will explore his journey over 40 years as his interests have shifted from "just the excitement at the how of making stick furniture to the why of it". He finds something about contact with nature and natural materials that is nourishing and replenishing. He is at work on a book, The Wayward Artist, which tries to explore that and develop ways to experience it. As Dan says, "Certainly in the evermore-fractured world we live in, a return to the profound mystery, generosity and fierceness of nature is a needed grounding." Following ia a book signing at 4PM for Dan's newest books "The Adirondack Chair" and "The Hammock". It promises to be an exciting, stimulating and inspiring afternoon for anyone interested in the artistic process.
