Excerpts from H.M.S. PinaforeNew York Gilbert and Sullivan Players is acclaimed for their signature style of seamlessly fusing a contemporary sensibility with a traditional respect for light opera. NYGASP are peerless in their skillful interpretation of the masterworks of G&S. NYGASP remains dedicated to the performance of Gilbert and Sullivan Operettas and to building new audiences for this classic repertory. NYGASP’s touring ensemble, The Wand’ring Minstrels, will perform excerpts from H.M.S. Pinafore at the Catskill Mountain Foundation in 2008. H.M.S. Pinafore, a comic opera in two acts, was the first big hit by Gilbert and Sullivan. Gilbert imbued “Pinafore” with mirth and silliness to spare. Opera Review says “Yo, Man! Gilbert and Sullivan’s good fun!” To find out more about the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players visit www.nygasp.org. This event is funded in part by the Jarvis and Constance Doctorow Family Foundation
