Mark Basil

Mark Basil returns to the Catskills from Los Angeles California, for an acoustic performance of originals and select covers. His return also sends him to Studio B in the Northern Catskills in order to put the last touches on his newest album that will be coming out in January 2009. Born and raised in the heart of the Catskill Mountains, Mark has been performing live in front of audiences since his first piano performance at age 7. He first studied piano and saxophone in elementary school and moved on to guitar early in his teen years. He has devoted his entire life to music and performance and even had the chance to study for a year at the Ithaca School of Music. Over the past 10 years, he has graced the stage at the some of the largest venues in the Catskills and the New York music scene. He played WDST & Warren Haines's annual summer music festival Mountain Jam, Hunter Mountain's winter action sports and Music Festival 42 Degrees Latitude, The Egg Performing Arts Center in Albany and the famed Bearsville Theater in Woodstock NY. Mark has shared the stage with many greats including Vernon Reed, DJ Logic, Bernie Worell & Flash (Parliament Funkadelic), local rockers Edison, Lynch, The Voodelics and jam band superstars The Bennevento Russo Duo. He presently fronts the funk band Funk Mafia and is the backbone behind the two man progressive project called S'OVA that weaves electric guitar rifts with old school funk and hip hop beats with the use of vinyl record turntables.
