Windham Chapter Awards $1000 to Cornell Cooperative Extension

 The Windham Chapter of the Castkill Mountain Foundation donated one thousand dollars to the Cornell Cooperative Extension for their April 19th Earth Day celebration.  The celebration, which was held at the extension's Agroforestry Resource Center on route 23 in East Durham, covered such topics as reducing personal energy consumption and the importance of buying locally grown and raised food in this time of growing concern about global climate change.  All attendees of the event also received a complimentary "Greene Guide" full of ideas and resources to lead a more sustainable lifestyle.
    The Windham Chapter of the Catskill Mountain Foundation supports the ideals of locally grown food through donations such as this to outreach programs. The Catskill Mountain Foundation's permanant farmers market in Hunter is a great way of supporting eco-friendly local organic agriculture.  If you missed the Earth Day celebration be sure to stay tuned to Cornell's Cooperative Extension website, www.cce.cornell.edu/arc,  for future events and for access to a variety of environmental resources including spring gardening advice and information so you can start some local agriculture of your own.
