$1 Million for WAJ Central School
back to Windham Chapter
June 01, 2007 Windham
"The impact is significant. The possibilities for our students will increase tremendously," said WAJ Superintendent John Wiktorko, as he thanked the Windham Chapter for their funding totalling $1 million to WAJ. "Their commitment to education, our students and our teachers is remarkable", continued Wiktorko, in his reference to the Windham Chapter.
This month the Windham Chapter presented the third financial installment completing their $1 million donation to WAJ. This installment will go towards the renovation of the façade of the school building, creating a new circular driveway at the front of the building, and removing the temporary classroom trailers from the property. These grants to the Windham-Ashland-Jewett Central School District support the development of goals and the implementation of programs that will improve student outcomes on state and federal assessments, align student activity to state and federal performance benchmarks and better prepare students for the rigorous challenges of global competition.
The Windham Chapter, a division of the Catskill Mountain Foundation, is governed by a Board of Directors, which serves on a non-paid volunteer basis.
