"Three gifted players who make lovely music together, with youthful energy and a warm and thoughtful musicality", commented Arnold Steinhardt of the renowned Guarneri String Quartet. The Newstead Trio performances are personified by warmth, energy and depth of expression. They are the ensemble-in-residence at the Pennsylvania Academy of Music. With Michael Jamanis on violin, Sara Male on cello, and Xun Pan on piano, the Trio has been performing together worldwide since 1993. The Newstead Trio is on the roster of Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour and has been included on the roster of Arts in Education. They have been given residencies at schools and universities throughout the eastern United States, presenting master classes and lectures, addressing a wide variety of topics. Lucky schools!
The three musicians play tried-and true-classics with expertise, but are not afraid to try something new. They display a good sense of timing and each is sensitive to what the other is doing instrumentally. They are rhythmically attuned and delightfully expressive as they exhibit the capabilities of their various instruments to the fullest. Dazzling the intimate venue of the Weill Recital Hall at New York City's Carnegie Hall, the Newstead Trio's New York debut was a rousing success. The standing ovation they received was well deserved.
So, before the rush of the season envelops you, give yourself and some one you care about a pre-holiday gift and don't miss the opportunity to take in the enchanting sounds of The Newstead Trio.
The Catskill Mountain Foundation is supported in part with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, the Greene County Legislature through the County Initiative Program administered in Greene County by the Greene County Council on the Arts, and by corporate and private donations. This concert is made possible in part through a donation from J. P. Morgan
