ABOUT US
|
The mission of the Catskill Mountain Foundation is to provide educational opportunities in the arts for youth and lifelong learners, to bring the experience of the arts to our Catskill community, and to support artists and arts organizations in the development of their work through residencies. Through our Natural Agriculture farm and Farm Fellows program, we support sustainable living including and beyond the arts. In order to present these programs to the community, since 1998 we have raised, generated and invested close to $15 million in facility development (some of which has been funded by mortgage debt) and in excess of $30 million in programming and operations, for a total investment in our Mountaintop community and our region of over $45 million. We have created arts facilities, including the Orpheum Performing Arts Center in Tannersville, the Doctorow Center for the Arts in the Village of Hunter, and the Sugar Maples campus in the Town of Windham as well as over 50 rooms of artist residency housing. Looking forward to the future, we are now focusing our energies primarily on growing the programming we present, and on expanding the partnerships we develop with other arts organizations. We believe that the arts can transform the lives of those touched by it, and can transform our community. Within the next 12 months we plan on launching a strategic planning process, working with the prestigious Arts Consulting Group. In this process we will work with key stakeholders in our greater community to ensure that we all work together to transform our Mountaintop community into a thriving arts destination. We are excited by everything we have going on, and look with enthusiasm to the future. |
